ORA-27504: IPC error creating OSD context

On AIX 6.1, got following errors when I was trying to create / start the database instance.

ORA-27504: IPC error creating OSD context
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:sendmsg failed with status: 59
ORA-27301: OS failure message: Message too long
ORA-27302: failure occurred at: sskgxpsnd1

Solution to this problem, is to set the network tuning parameters as following.

# no -o tcp_sendspace=262144
# no -o tcp_recvspace=262144
# no -o udp_sendspace=65536
# no -o udp_recvspace=262144
# no -o rfc1323=1

Once we change the parameters, they can be verified as

# no -a

But these parameters will not persist after the reboot. So one can add these entries in /etc/rc.net, to make them persistent across the reboot.

if [ -f /usr/sbin/no ] ; then
/usr/sbin/no -o tcp_sendspace=262144 >>/dev/null 2>&1
/usr/sbin/no -o tcp_recvspace=262144 >>/dev/null 2>&1
/usr/sbin/no -o udp_sendspace=65536 >>/dev/null 2>&1
/usr/sbin/no -o udp_recvspace=262144 >>/dev/null 2>&1
/usr/sbin/no -o rfc1323=1 >>/dev/null 2>&1

  1. ennnot says:

    But, not to /etc/rc.net
These strings must be added to /etc/rc.tcpip
