[ CRSMAIN][10308] Failed to spawn a thread for UI connection. error=-11

While installing the 11gR1 Clusterware on 64 bit AIX 6.1, got following errors in crsd.log

2010-06-15 20:19:12.696: [ CRSMAIN][10308] Failed to spawn a thread for UI connection. error=-11
2010-06-15 20:28:39.637: [ CRSMAIN][10308] Failed to spawn a thread for UI connection. error=-11
2010-06-15 20:28:42.667: [ CRSMAIN][10308] Failed to spawn a thread for UI connection. error=-11
2010-06-15 20:28:43.847: [ CRSMAIN][10308] Failed to spawn a thread for UI connection. error=-11

The fix for this error is to increase the Shell Limits for the user ‘root’ as the Clusterware processes are started as root.

After changing the shell limits for root (on BOTH nodes) the above problem was resolved.

# ulimit -a

time(seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) unlimited
data(kbytes) unlimited
stack(kbytes) 4194304
memory(kbytes) unlimited
coredump(blocks) 2097151
nofiles(descriptors) unlimited

Once this problem was resolved, faced another issue (which is actually a BUG with crs scripts running on AIX 6.1, due to change in netstat output).

This bug can be fixed by using the workaround mentioned in the metalink doc ID 959746.1.
