Oracle 11gR1 dbca – maximum number of sessions exceeded

Used dbca CLI

dbca -silent -createDatabase -templateName General_Purpose.dbc -gdbName DB1 -sid DB1 -SysPassword oracle -SystemPassword oracle -emConfiguration NONE -storageType ASM -asmSysPassword oracle -diskGroupName DG1 -datafileDestination DG1 -recoveryAreaDestination FG1

At time of creating the 11gr1 database using dbca, I was facing following error quite frequently.

ORA-12801: error signaled in parallel query server P073.
ORA-00018: maximum number of sessions exceeded
ORA-06512: at “SYS.UTL_RECOMP”, line 629
ORA-06512: at “SYS.UTL_RECOMP”, line 671
ORA-06512: at line 1

Solution to this problem, was to change the values for parallel server related parameters. Now the database is not created yet, so where to change this?

DBCA uses values from template file (*.dbc) specified in the -templateName parameter. For example, in above dbca CLI I’ve used General_Purpose.dbc as my template.

Before executing the dbca, I’ve modified /oracle/ora11/assistants/dbca/templates/General_Purpose.dbc file as following

Then executed above dbca & it worked absolutely fine.
