User and Groups needed for RAC install

Groups –

1) oinstall 2) dba 3) oper

$ groupadd oinstall
$ groupadd dba
$ groupadd oper

Users –

1) oracle 2) nobody

$ useradd -u 200 -g oinstall -G dba oracle

$ id nobody -> if does not exist then,
$ useradd nobody

$ id oracle

The output from this command is similar to the following:

uid=200(oracle) gid=1116(oinstall) groups=1117(dba),1118(oper)

2. From the output, identify the user ID (UID) for the oracle user and the group identities (GIDs) for the groups to which it belongs.

To create the user and groups on the other cluster nodes, repeat the following procedure on each node:

1. Log in to the next cluster node as root.

2. Enter commands similar to the following to create the oinstall and dba groups.

Use the -g option to specify the correct GID for each group.

groupadd -g 1116 oinstall
groupadd -g 1117 dba
groupadd -g 1118 oper

useradd -u 200 -g oinstall -G dba oracle
